The file is written; what is left is saying it out loud. A panel questions you one competency area at a time, pushes back when you stay general, and you come out with a map of your weak spots and a preparation plan. Two panel styles, as many attempts as you want.
Start the interview →Four axes for a competency interview. They are not the axes of an academic viva.
Two panel styles, questions built from your competency areas and your own file, the map of your weak spots, the preparation plan and the comparison between attempts.

A competency panel is not interested in your methodology or your reading list. It is checking one thing: that what your file claims, you actually did, yourself, and that you can back it up. Candidates come unstuck in almost exactly the same three places — the general answer, the word “we”, and the missing result. That is precisely where this simulator pushes back.
One key activity and one piece of evidence per competency area. If you built your competency map, it is picked up automatically.
The panel works through the areas, keeps to the clock, and follows up whenever an answer does not stand up.
Solid areas, weak areas, a preparation plan, and a comparison with your previous attempts.
Everything except the principle. An academic viva examines a piece of research: research question, method, findings. A competency panel checks that your experience covers the competency areas of a role, with real situations and evidence to back them. The questions, the criteria and the tone are different, which is why these are two separate tools.
They are built area by area from the profile you selected, and they reuse the activity and the evidence you entered yourself. From one attempt to the next, the questions change.
Because your answer has a gap that can be spotted mechanically: too general, phrased as “we”, no evidence named, or no result. Those are the four most common ways an answer falls flat out loud, and a real panel will come back at you on exactly those.
A chatbot improvises generic questions and then congratulates you. Here the questions come out of the competency areas of the profile and out of your own file, the follow-ups apply stated criteria, and the debrief tells you plainly which areas do not hold up, without promising you anything.
